Great place, it is very rustic and it seems like you're walking into a different era. It was a little hard to talk over dinner because there was a group next to us; I'm sure the rock walls don't help suppress the sound. We were not very hungry so we just got a couple appetizers. It's roughly $12 per appetizer and $25 per main course, which is reasonable for the location and the vibe. Overall, it was around a 4.5 star experience just because of the loud sound.
I'm having a tough time describing my experience at "the gilded unicorn." it is such a unique and awesome restaurant. The restaurant is in the basement of a very old brick building. The visuals of the dining room create this warm, cozy hideaway feeling. The brick and rock walls decorated with paintings and artwork. The woodwork of original decor dating back further than I can imagine. I spent my time just taking in all the details.
The food was like nothing I've seen or tasted in Spokane. Very delicious, very pleasing to the eyes. Unique tasty items.
I had a beer from a local brewery. But it looked like they had a very good selection of spirits. And a small bar at which you could belly up to.
The wait staff were very friendly and very attentive to our needs. I talked with a waitress who was cleaning up after a large group of people. She was very friendly and took the time to answer some questions about the small velvetly banquet room they had.

Gilded Unicorn is a true gem right in the heart of downtown Spokane. The restaurant’s atmosphere is reminiscent of a Kubrick film and while dining you easily could imagine the space used as a secret society meeting place in the 1930’s. On a 95 degree summer day it felt very nice walking down into the cool cave like walls of Gilded. The happy hour prices lend themselves to trying the whole food menu, and the happy hour cocktail is always innovative and prepared with excellence. I have never had a bad dish here or drink. The tap beer and can list is small but might filled with lots of locally brewed beers like my go to Brick-west Pilsner. The perfectly brewed brick-west Pilsner is an excellent match for the smothered tot casserole and the truffle popcorn.
Great atmosphere, amazing drinks, delicious food. Salmon poke nachos were incredible as were the duck wings. Chicken ala king and salmon both rave and crave worthy
I have been here three times now, and every time they have hit it out of the park. The food is incredible, the service is always excellent, and the decor and atmosphere is great. The cocktails are phenomenal as well.
Yum! Had cider, chili, and dessert at the bar. Perfect for a guy passing through town like me. Nice vibe. Recommend if you want to take a date to a slightly whimsical, non-rowdy pub. I'll be back next time I'm in town, this time with family in tow!
Edit: the brownie/ice cream is big enough for two.
The unicorn martini drink was tasty and super cute, it had a unique flavor but it could had some kind of garnish or flower to top it off. The atmosphere of this place was definitely the highlight. I loved desending down the stairs into the basement, and being surrounded by the dim orange light lighting the stone. We ordered a few different dishes, all pretty good but definitely could have been more flavorful. The bowl of Chilli was tiny and had no toppings, the wild mushroom pasta didn't have very many mushrooms, but the salmon dish and the Swedish meatballs were good and both cooked well. The service was nice enough.
I only had their signature Gelded Guilded Unicorn cocktail and duck wings but thoroughly enjoyed both while I did some work at the bar. Beautiful building.
Took a drink up to my room afterward in the Montvale.
